T-Ball Minor League Rules 

Purpose:  The purpose of the Instructional T-ball League is to provide all players proper introductory fundamentals in a less competitive environment.

All Cal Ripken and local rules apply except as follows:

1.  All players on defense shall be in a rotation so that at least two different positions will be played during a single game.

2.  No score will be kept until the final season tournament.

3.  Each team member shall have an at bat every inning.  The inning shall end when the ball becomes dead after the last team member’s at bat.

4.  A batter may take five swing attempts.  Should the fifth attempt be unsuccessful, the batter will be awarded first base.

5.  A two base maximum shall be enforced for all baserunners.

6.  The number of parent coaches in the field shall be at the discretion of the head coach.

7.  A player may be moved to the T-ball Major League should it be determined that skills warrant such a move.  Formal written contact should be made to the league commissioner and/or player agent by the Head Coach

T-Ball Major League Rules

Purpose:  The purpose of the T-ball League is to provide a more equally balanced league and prepare players to move into Rookie League.

All Cal Ripken and local rules apply except as follows:

1.  Each team will be allowed a maximum of seven runs per inning.

2.  Each batter will be thrown three pitches by a coach.  Should no pitch be hit, the batter will then have two attempts from a tee.

3.  The number of parent coaches on the field will be limited to two while on defense and three on offense.

4.  Each game will be 1hour 15min in length or five innings whichever should occur first.

5.  Each coach is responsible for trash pick-up in his or her own dugout and bleachers after each game.

6.  Overthrows at first and third – If thrown ball hits the fence, the ball is dead and runners advance one (1) base only.  If ball stays in play, runners may advance at their own risk.

7.  Pitcher must throw the ball to first base to make a play there.  He can run down a player going to any other base.

8.  Only six (6) infielders may be used.  Outfielders must remain behind chalked areas until ball is hit.  No infielder may be closer than five (5) feet up the baseline towards home plate until ball is hit.

9.  The entire roster will bat in order on offense.  The entire roster will play on defense.

10.  Home team shall be official scorekeeper.  Official scorekeeper shall sit behind home plate in scorekeepers box.  Batting orders shall be exchanged prior to the start of the game.  Late players will be added to the bottom of the batting order.   All players will receive participatory awards at the end of the season.

11.  Only two (2) defensive coaches will be allowed on the field.  While on offense, you may have a coach on first and third base and a coach at home plate to assist the batter.
